Trapped in this school, in her social isolation, in this cycle of violence and betrayal. The cutesy little bitch probably just couldn’t stand the stench of whatever they’d wanted to subject Taylor to.Īnd wasn’t that just the size of it? Not just trapped here in this locker, though she certainly was that. For a moment, Taylor entertained the hope that someone had gained a conscience, that her trio of tormentors would become a duo. “Trash belongs with trash”, as Emma said. No, apparently she had Madison of all people to thank that she wasn’t marinating in a trash can or something right now. Merely trapping Taylor Hebert inside her own locker for an entire class period wasn’t enough pain and humiliation. Much worse, if Taylor had heard Emma right. Her face was pressed hard into the upper right corner of the locker, into the back, and there was barely any light inside thanks to the thin slits on the front. Her side, where the coat hook had lodged itself, said it was day, and that if she were to look down there she would see blood. Her legs, bruised and scraped, concurred. Had it really been only half an hour since they shoved her in here? Taylor’s back, bowed and twisted by the locker corner, said it was hours. Just a little strained and breathless from her compressed position. She felt like her voice should have been rusty, hoarse from disuse, but it wasn’t. Sadly, though the metal was more than willing to yield to her thrashing, the lock was made of sterner stuff and she hadn’t the leverage to break it. She’d had it several times as she struggled against the flimsy aluminum embrace of the high school locker. “I’m trapped” thought Taylor to herself as she watched the sunlight play across the back of her locker. What’s best for her might not be what she wants, and she certainly doesn’t know the best way to achieve either. She’s also not renown for making the best decisions. Taylor is a smart and determined young woman, but she isn’t exactly a player of games. This is the experience I intend to share with you, the players here. Knowing the tricks and the traps and trying to convey that information without being overwhelming, without turning their character into your character. Gently guiding them away from nonbos and towards synergistic options while trying to tease out what they really want from this character. What matters was the experience, the feeling of trying to help a clueless player realize their vision and have fun in a game they didn’t understand. PF2e if you care, but the system doesn’t matter. The inspiration for this one came when I was looking over a new player’s character sheet.
